Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, September 3, 2012

During his visit to Brazil, Gurudev was given Rio de Janeiro’s highest honor, “The Tiradentes Medal” for outstanding service to society. Mr. Eduardo Paes, the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro honored Gurudev by giving him the keys to the city.

Gurudev then visited the “Corcovado” (the monument to Christ) in Rio de Janeiro, and was received by Padre Omar, Rector of Christ the Redeemer.

Gurudev led the largest meditation for peace in the city’s Cinelandia Square, a landmark site of the freedom struggle. With Gurudev, it became a destination for meditation, wisdom, and peace.
